Behrend Women's Soccer Ranked 25th in United Soccer Coaches Poll
The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division III national rankings announced on Tuesday.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division III national rankings announced on Tuesday. The Lions are ranked No. 25 after starting the season with a 3-0 record and defeating No. 8 John Carroll 1-0 in the opening weekend.
Behrend is also ranked second in the UCS Great Lakes regional rankings.
The Lions are joined by three other Pennsylvania teams in the national rankings; No. 3 Carnegie Mellon, No. 5 Misericordia, and No. 21 Swarthmore. The Lions are the only Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) team regionally and nationally ranked.
Behrend has outscored its opponents 7-0 on the early season and head into Wednesday's contest at Allegheny on a three-game winning streak. They also hold a 36-9 shots on goal advantage and have posted three shutouts.
The Lions were chosen to finish first in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Coaches Poll and senior defender Nicole Croushore (Smithton, PA/Yough) was voted Defensive Preseason Player of the Year. Croushore currently leads the team with two goals.
