Tobin Sets New 200m Indoor Program Record on Day One of SUNYAC Indoor Championships
Freshman Carter Tobin (Irwin, PA/Norwin) set a new Penn State Behrend men’s indoor track & field record in the 200m on the first day of the first day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Freshman Carter Tobin (Irwin, PA/Norwin) set a new Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field record in the 200m on the first day of the first day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Key Moments:
* In the 200m prelims, Tobin qualified for finals by breaking the school record and running a personal-best time of 22.14
* Tobin surpassed Antonio Stello's time of 22.19 that was set on February 11, 2023
* The first-year runner would also go on to register an AARTFC mark and personal-best mark of 6.99 in the 60m prelims to qualify for tomorrow's finals
* Senior Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the pole vault with a height of 14-5 ¼
* Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) followed Tobin in the 200m with a regional qualifying time of 22.47. Jake Nardozza (Harrison City, PA/Penn-Trafford) also competed in this event, placing 19th (23.16)
* In 60m prelims, Marshall Nock (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) finished with a 12th-place time of 7.05, followed by Egizio In 17th (7.10)
* Distance runner Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) made his way to the podium with a 5000m time of 16:10.23 for fifth. Alex Haskins (North East, PA/North East) (16:31.09) and Peyton Brewer (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) (16:37.12) crossed the finish line in 13th and 15th with personal-best times in this event
* Dominic Marino (60m/8.90) and Hayden Travers (Weight Throw/41-7) recorded 11th and 17th in their respective events
* The distance medley relay team of Tim Hamilton (Winchester, MA/Winchester), Drew Knight (Butler, PA/Butler), David Gahagan (South Park, PA/South Park), and Aidan Reinsel (North East, PA/North East) picked up bronze medals with a third-place time of 10:58.70 to end day one
* As a team, Behrend stands in third place out of 10 with a team score of 20
