The blue and white took advantage of two Fredonia errors in the
first inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Both the leadoff man, Jon
Gray (State College/State College), and Ed Kessler (Bethel
Park/Bethel Park) reached on error to start the game. Junior
Josh Fyffe (Fredonia/Sharpsville) then doubled to
score Gray. The Behrend Lions finished the first with two hits and
four unearned runs.
Fredonia State tied the game at four in the third inning. The blue
and white proceeded to knock in three runs in the fifth, two in the
sixth and eighth to give the blue and white a little cushion. The
Behrend Lions needed the cushion as Fredonia fought back getting
one run in the seventh and three in the ninth before Ryan Smith
(Franklin/Franklin) settled in and closed out the game to give the
blue and white an 11-8 victory.
